The Role
Based in New Delhi, India, and reporting to the Program Director, you will support the India program team to advance and develop the grant portfolios in one or more areas of the India work. India work streams include green manufacturing, climate modelling, climate finance, energy transition, non-carbon GHG emissions, and hard to abate industry sectors like steel and cement. Working with strategic partners, you will identify opportunities to support the decarbonization goals of the country and strategies and mechanisms to support them.
Your work will also advance strategic program design and delivery, as well as learning among stakeholders, including enhanced coordination. You will establish key relationships via engagement with civil society organizations, think tanks, and other partners, as well as government agencies. Other responsibilities are to:
- Conduct thorough and regular stewardship of grant portfolios.
- Assess project implementation and make strategic recommendations to partners.
- Engage in learning and strategy development around key mitigation sectors.
- Establish diverse partnerships, collaboration, and networks to advance strategic priorities.
Skills Required
You bring strong technical expertise and knowledge, gained in the public or private sector, in one or more thematic climate sectors (climate finance, green manufacturing, clean energy, renewables, clean transportation, industrial decarbonization, super pollutants etc.) You ideally have a deep understanding of the global climate ecosystem, and of India’s significance within it, and you are highly motivated to drive clean energy transition impact through strategic partnerships.
With an analytical mindset and experience ideally gained in a climate-focused non-profit/think tank, consulting, or similar organization, you have a solid understanding of philanthropy and grantmaking and you bring political discretion and strong diplomatic skills to your engagements. You also have:
- Impeccable ethics, capacity to work collaboratively, respectfully, and flexibly internationally.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; cross-cultural fluency.
- Excellent proficiency in English, including English writing, and an Indian language.
