The Role
Ideally based in Indonesia, this regional role leads the implementation of a regional strategy for Southeast Asia, working with diverse partners in the region to develop organizational presence, mobilize coalitions, and influence funding strategies and policy outcomes.
You will support the development and management of a grantmaking portfolio; identifying and strategizing to strengthen the institutional capacity of partners and the climate ecosystem in the region. Importantly, you will develop grant recommendations and bring stakeholders together to accelerate energy transition across Southeast Asia.
Utilizing your understanding of systemic change, your role is to leverage and scope key networks with peer organizations, government officials, civil society, and key stakeholders to assess emerging needs, gaps, opportunities, to advance grantmaking strategies and portfolios.
Strategically leveraging Sequoia’s resources, your work will drive stronger funder coordination including supporting climate philanthropy development in Asia.
Skills Required
With broad Southeast Asia experience, you have a good understanding of renewable energy systems or climate mitigation, and international and regional climate diplomacy. Ideally holding a relevant advanced qualification, you are eager to help accelerate the regional energy transition by leveraging your program management experience and your strong networking and influencing skills across diverse and senior stakeholders. You must have proven government engagement experience and the capacity to disseminate complex and technical information.
Ideally you have a nonprofit programs, international development, philanthropy, advocacy, or related background, and you are a collaborative, savvy relationship builder and confident presenter, with a demonstrated understanding of how to create systemic change. You also offer:
- Proven capacity to develop relevant creative strategies to solve complex problems.
- A collaborative, proactive approach; impeccable ethics to work confidentially and flexibly.
- Sharp written and verbal communication, strong English language skills.
- Native fluency in an Asian language preferred.
