The Role
With an analytical mindset and skills, the Corporate Engagement Lead conducts direct engagement with Japanese companies, particularly within high emitting sectors. Dialogue is conducted based on the analysis of corporate disclosures, proven data, and scientific evidence, to accelerate decarbonization strategies.
Other aspects of the role are to:
- Set an engagement strategy for target sectors and companies and evaluate the outcomes of such engagement.
- Establish a group of global institutional investors for co-engagement.
- Perform analysis to enable engagement and corporate dialogue.
- Coordinate and lead dialogue with C-suite executives and sustainability/ESG departments.
Skills Required
The ideal candidate is passionate about addressing climate change and has at least four years professional knowledge of Japanese financial and capital markets as an analyst in securities or from interpreting corporate/financial statements to inform strategy. Your experience includes proven success in relationship building and successful engagement with corporations. You also have demonstrated skills in strategic planning or sustainability advocacy within the corporate sector, synthesizing complex issues, and presenting persuasive arguments to stakeholders with diverse perspectives. Your other key competencies include;
- Deep understanding of business and finance; ability to interpret financial statements and ESG data.
- Strong networking skills, including at the C-suite level.
- Agile and resilient work style; ability to deal with ambiguity and challenge.
- Ability to collaborate and navigate diverse stakeholder groups to build consensus.
- Native level Japanese, professional business level English.

貸借対照表や財務諸表、非財務情報(ESGデータ)を解釈し、論理的な仮説を構築する能力が求められます。また、複雑な課題を整理し、異なる視点を持つステークホルダーに対して説得力のあるコミュニケーションを取ることが必要です。
