The Role
The Investor Engagement Lead will explore and maintain relationships with global investors to collaborate with CAJ as partners in conducting shareholder engagement with target financial institutions. In this role you will collaborate with domestic and global asset managers and asset owners (institutional investors) to drive corporate decarbonization.
Other responsibilities of the role are to;
- Streamline agendas and facilitate dialogue with target sectors and companies.
- Identify, engage with, and maintain relationships with investors committed to decarbonization.
- Stay updated and advise on international initiatives and provide insights on climate action within Japanese companies.
- Prepare voting briefings and roadshows for institutional investors.
Skills Required
The ideal candidate is passionate about addressing climate change and has at least four years professional experience in Japanese financial and capital markets, ideally including experience working with asset managers and financial institutions. A strong networker and relationship builder, you have the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder groups and build consensus. You also have a good understanding of market regulation and disclosure requirements.
Your key competencies include;
- Communication skills and an understanding of business and finance.
- A knowledge of policy development and keen strategic financial analysis skills.
- Agile and resilient working style; ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Native level Japanese, professional business level English.

また、強力なネットワーク構築能力と関係構築能力を備え、多様なステークホルダーグループを円滑に調整し合意形成を図るとともに、市場規制や開示要件についても深い理解が必要です。例えば、スチュワードシップ・コードや国際的な取り組み(例:PRI、Climate Action 100+)の動向を追跡することが挙げられます。
