Monitoring and evaluation roles
Jobs which fall under monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are about analysing and improving the impact of an organisation’s activities, outcomes, reputation and fundability. This responds to a growing emphasis on evidence-based planning and results-driven funding which is increasingly necessary to attract stakeholder support and sustainable sources of capital. Employees involved in monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis work with and report to an organisation’s management team to ultimately improve the outputs and outcomes of an organisation.
Monitoring, evaluation and impact analysis roles tend to require significant knowledge and experience as well as a formal qualification (e.g. certification course) in monitoring and evaluation, impact analysis or similar. These types of roles are becoming increasingly important with a drive towards results-driven funding for NFP organisations: solid evidence and insight is necessary and highly valuable.
