Service:  Exclusive Executive Search

Role:  Executive Director, Philippines

Placement:  2024

Challenge

NGO Recruitment was commissioned to find an executive director for Plan International – Philippines. This critical leadership role came at a time of growth and ambition for the organization which had recently transitioned from Plan International Federation. This role would lead the country team, drive Plan International – Philippines vision, and strategy for organisational sustainability, whilst building a strong impactful program portfolio for community and a robust funding pipeline.

This was not a typical executive director search, as the brief was to secure a candidate who could both lead a national programme team, demonstrate success in corporate engagement and could also appeal to the celebrity culture of the Philippines, raising the profile of the organisation in private sector donor circles, to expand and diversify their funding beyond the typical donor models.

Solution

NGO Recruitment mapped out 380+ potential candidates in the Philippines, and candidates from the Philippines, but residing outside of the country.

Through extensive headhunting, advertising, social media, and database marketing, NGO Recruitment was able to find the perfect candidate who was skilled in media and marketing, had the entrepreneurial and innovative skillsets from her own start up, which were ideal for this role, and who also had led non-profits before.

Additionally, our candidate had led marketing and partnerships in financial institutions, and other corporate settings, so was skilled in corporate engagement and private sector relationship building. The candidate was also a minor media celebrity herself and had a deep passion for advancing girls’ rights with experience consulting to UNICEF.
