The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is an international NGO promoting the global transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy. IEEFA examines issues related to energy markets, trends, and policies. Combining high-level financial analysis and in-depth understanding of energy economics, IEEFA supports action strategies that address climate change and energy poverty, whilst highlighting how the current energy transition makes financial sense for everyone—financial institutions, governments, regulators, corporations, and ratepayers.

NGO Recruitment was commissioned to recruit a Chief Executive Officer for Australia for IEEFA.

This was a demanding brief with requirements for both proven expertise and deep knowledge of financial and energy issues related to the fossil-fuel and renewable-energy industries, as well as knowledge of how marginalized communities are affected by fossil fuels and climate change.

In addition, leadership and advocacy strategy development experience was required, with the ability to manage media liaison and implement communication strategies.

NGO Recruitment took a detailed brief from the IEEFA global board and prepared a national campaign launch to attract a high-calibre technical and strategy expert for the position.

Over 130 applications were screened, and NGO Recruitment reached out to over 100 potential candidates. The most suitable candidates were then interviewed via video conference.

From a strong shortlist of seven final candidates presented, IEEFA selected a former national climate programmes leader with a Big Four consulting background in sustainability. She is an energy transition expert, originally from Europe with strong Australian experience.
